Our Mission
Trillium Haven Farm - It’s more than just vegetables — it’s relationships!
We believe that there are better ways to farm other than using the industrial model: small-scale farming keeps us attuned to our land and our community. This small scale means we do not have to follow the current agribusiness model with its large equipment, huge tracts of land, and significant distances between the grower and consumer. We are members of this community, selling directly to members of this community. This gives people the opportunity to keep their resources here instead of supporting absentee corporations.
Because we do not want to damage our own land, and because we see our land as part of all the surrounding ecosystems, we do not use any pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers that pollute the land, water, or air. Our members trust us to take care of our land, and thus take care of them and their family’s health.
Our mission is to facilitate community and personal growth in a world that continues to become more globalized and depersonalized. In addition, we see ourselves not just as “farmers” but also as “earthkeepers.” Part of our mission is to teach others about the wonder and beauty of God’s creation and how sustainable agriculture preserves and enhances that creation.
Healthy Food
We believe that you and your family deserve the highest quality food and that’s why we use environmentally sustainable growing techniques. We use no pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers of any kind. We see our farm as a living system, where its elements work together to build and maintain soil fertility. We continue to work on replenishing our soil—which was farmed chemically for decades—by adding minerals, compost, fish emulsions, and seaweed in order to grow the most nutrient-dense food we can.
Healthy Farms
Our share prices are based on the cost of production and are kept to a minimum by selling directly to our members. We are working to ensure that farms are economically sustainable. Our farmers are paid a living wage, and in turn, we provide you with the highest quality vegetables at a fair price. Our produce prices per pound compare very favorably with Meijer produce prices per pound.
Healthy Families
Our farm helps you connect with those who grow your food and with other like-minded individuals who share a desire for healthy food and a concern for our local economy and local environment.
