This year the amazing home cook and CSA member, Cindy Young, will be conducting all the food demos out at the farm. Amy Sherman and Mindy Hamstra, both 10-year members of the farm, & Anja will be doing the demos in town. We will be conducting two hour demos every other week through the season for new members in particular, stressing prep techniques, pantry basics, cooking equipment, and two simple recipes each session. These demos are a great opportunity for new members to visually learn the basic building blocks for Cooking 101.

"Weed & Feed" at the Farm
Wednesday, June 16, 4pm-8pm, with potluck dinner at 5:50pm
We're switching our Saturday "Weed & Feed" events to Wednesday this year. Summer evenings are long and the lights are on until 10pm, so come out early at 4pm and stay as long as you'd like, or come for dinner and do a little weeding afterwards. This is a fun time for families to get to know each other, and for kids to spend some time in the dirt. We'll always provide the drinks and salads (our farm speciality!)--feel free to bring whatever you'd like to share!

"Ten-Year Celebration Party!"
Saturday, June 19, 6-9pm
We're hosting a dinner (created by Amy Sherman and Anja) in thanks for those CSA members who have been with us the longest. Anyone who started with us our first year in 2001, and who participated in growing the farm through 2002, 2003 and 2004, is invited to come for a sit down evening dinner on the farm. We hope you can share some of your stories with us, so that in turn we can share them in our weekly newsletters through the season.
Please rsvp Anja at trilliumhaven@earthlink.net. Please feel free to BYO beer/wine for the BYO on-site bar.

November 2010

Winter Farmer's Market at Trillium during November/December:
For the past few years Michael and the interns have been testing different types and varieties of storage crops and practicing methods of winter greenhouse growing. Our goal is to eventually offer a winter CSA share to those members who wish to continue their seasonal eating experience with us.

We have come realize, however, that offering and running a winter CSA may just be beyond the limits of our own capacity as farmers. We are exhausted after a long summer season, and traveling and visiting organic farms on the east coast is an important part of our winter down time. With our new "Farmer's in Training" program, we will be looking for young farmers to co-create and co-operate a winter CSA at Trillium.

In the meantime, the extra test crops we store, and grow in the greenhouses, need a market. We would like to continue to offer "farmer's market" days on our farm during November and early December to sell that produce. Please check your yahoo group emails from us as to upcoming days/time when you can come to the farm to buy produce. Your friends and neighbors are very welcome as well!
